Symptoms
Distorted new shoots with white waxy tubules from nymphal feeding. Yellowed mottled leaves. Stunted growth. Primary vector of Huanglongbing (HLB / Citrus Greening Disease), the most devastating citrus disease worldwide.
Prevention
Use certified disease-free planting material. Apply systemic insecticides during new flush to protect young shoots. Inspect regularly for psyllid colonies. Remove and destroy HLB-infected trees immediately.
Treatment
Organic
Apply neem oil or insecticidal soap targeting nymphs on new flush. Release Tamarixia radiata parasitoid wasp. The primary goal is preventing HLB transmission — vector management is critical.
Chemical (last resort)
Apply imidacloprid as soil drench or foliar spray during new flush. Spirotetramat provides systemic control via phloem. Rotate chemical groups to prevent resistance. This pest must be controlled aggressively due to HLB risk.
