Symptoms
Galls/knots on roots. Stunted growth, wilting despite adequate water, yellowing. Poor fruit/vegetable quality. Most severe in sandy soils.
Prevention
Rotate with non-host crops (grasses, alliums). Use resistant varieties. Solarize soil before planting. Add organic matter to improve soil health.
Treatment
Organic
Apply Paecilomyces lilacinus bio-nematicide. Use marigold as trap crop. Neem cake soil amendment.
Chemical (last resort)
Carbofuran granules (restricted use). Fluopyram seed treatment. Consult DOA extension officer before chemical nematicide use.
